The fist day of Bangla year is called pahela Baishakh. This much expected day comes once a year . According to our culture and tradition. We have been celebrating this day for centuries . The main attraction of the day stars at Ramana Batamul in Dhaka . On this day , rural people prepare special foods . They also arrange fairs at importance place . On this day , shopkeepers  decorate their shops, open Halkhata and ofter sweets to their customers and clients. Urban people celebrate the day with much delight and interest. They eat Panta Bhat and hilsha fish in the morning . They wear traditional clothes. Young boys wear Punjabis and Pajamas and young girls put on yellow Sarees. The students of the Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka University bring out colourful procession on pahela Baishak. Bangla Academy, Chhayanat  etc organize cultural functions in their respective premises. Actually, Pahela Baishakh is a day of great joy and significance . It reminds us of our rich Bangla culture and tradition.
